The success story of Karl Benz inventor of the car

Karl Benz, a German inventor, was interested over many years in developing propulsion engines and succeeded in making the first car based on fuel combustion.

He merged his company with Daimler, and this alliance resulted in the Mercedes-Benz car, which is one of the oldest cars in history and still maintains its prestige and prestige to this day.

Birth and upbringing

Karl Benz was born in 1844 in southern Germany, specifically in the city of Karlsruhe, and at an early age he knew a lot about transportation due to the work of his mother as a train driver, and he was very attached to technology, and because of his passion for it, he applied to the technical school after completing his high school studies, and he obtained an engineering diploma in 1864.

Professional life

After graduating from the technical school and over 7 years, Karl Benz moved to work in many factories in his hometown and in other German cities such as Mannheim and Forsberg Heim, and throughout that period he did not feel his importance as an employee, but his biggest dream was to become a factory owner, so after 7 Years of work, specifically in 1871, Karl Benz decided to work to fulfill his dream of opening a small shop to repair machines and equipment with the participation of one of his friends, but after only one year the friend decided to withdraw from the project, and Karl Benz continued to work alone for 5 years during which he was able to develop A two-valve engine, but he faced many problems to start his engine, but after many attempts and hard work for long hours on a daily basis, he succeeded daily in 1879 in starting his engine.

Establish a motor company

After his success, Karl Benz decided in 1882 to establish a company to produce fuel-powered engines, and because he was risky and adventurous, he decided to establish another company in 1883 with the participation of 2 of his friends in Mannheim, and he aspired through this company to develop two-valve engines. To be used in cars, but his two partners did not accept his idea and considered it an unseen adventure.

This rejection did not increase Karl Benz to persistence, so he ventured alone and worked hard until he succeeded in designing an engine for cars, and succeeded in building a car structure consisting of three wheels and a small box, and was able to make the engine able to drive the rear wheels, relying on metal chains and rubber belts.

After his success, he decided to present the first car he had produced to the public. During the show, his car collided with the wall and was completely destroyed, thus winning the lion's share of ridicule and mockery. At the time, Karl Benz admitted that people have the right to make fun of his insecure little wagon, while there are horses that are much faster and safer than his little box, but that is not frustrate him. Rather, it increased his determination and desire to create a durable car that people can rely on for transportation and travel, and indeed he succeeded. That after only 4 years, specifically in 1899, he showed his cars, which received a lot of ridicule, to occupy first place in the world in the automotive industry.

Victoria Wagon Development

The bank, which financed Karl Benz, withdrew from financing Karl Benz after he refused the bank’s request to convert his company into a joint stock company. At that time, Karl decided to establish a new company called “Benz and his partners” and after only seven years it became the first company in the world in the automotive industry, Karl Benz worked on developing A "Victoria" wagon, which runs on 3 wheels, until its speed reaches 40 km per hour. Benz sold 1,200 pieces of the "Velo" model, which was manufactured based on a "Victoria" vehicle. Later, Karl Benz established a new car manufacturer in Ladenburg, named "Benz & Sons".

Daimler-Benz

In the year 1895, the Benz company produced the first bus in history and ran to work in the cities of Zeven, Nan, and Deutz, and the company was developing significantly, on the other hand, Daimler was developing as well, so it invented the driver, which made the latest move in the world of cars, and there accompanied a revolution in the world The auto industry is led by several German and American companies, but World War I came to deal a fatal blow to German companies.

At the same time, the American who was far from the scourge of war, Henry Ford produced his first car, which was known as the Model T, and because of its unique design and distinctive price, he was able to conquer the market, which increased pressure on German companies, and as a result, Benz met with officials in Daimler (who He passed away in 1900) and it was agreed in 1926 to merge the two companies into one company under the name "Daimler-Benz". This merger made a great leap in the automotive world.

It is worth noting that Daimler had recommended before his death that his daughter's name "Mercedes" be given to his car instead of his name. Several months after his death, specifically in 1901, the name of the car was changed to Mercedes, and it worked with this name for several years until it was merged with Benz The name of the car became "Mercedes Benz", which is the famous name that everyone knows today.

Mercedes-Benz stands for excellence and luxury

Mercedes-Benz has evolved a lot over the years, and at the same time countries have paved roads, which increased the demand for cars, and this is what enabled Daimler-Benz to sell many luxury Mercedes cars.

Karl Benz dies

Karl Benz passed away on April 4, 1929, at the age of 84, when he died of innovation and hard work, and what is distinctive is that his work did not die after him, but rather developed a lot, so the company sold many luxury cars to the rich, and after Hitler came to rule Germany, he chose Mercedes cars. As official cars for the state, even after the company’s collapse due to the coalition’s bombing of most of its factories during World War II, it was able to rise again and develop a lot in the automotive industries by increasing safety rates.
